If you have ever been inside my office, you know that it has more than one little memento connected to lucha libre. When we were kids in Mexico, lucha libre was always seen on one extreme of the super cool-super ridiculous spectrum. No in-betweens. People loved lucha libre and lived for it or people said it was dumb, lame and fake (wrestling is not fake, as Frank demonstrated in a recent episode of "It's always sunny"). We (the Evia kids) had some moments in which we saw lucha libre as super cool, mostly influenced by our neighbor (and my compadre in real life) Rich. But then we had other influences (dad) telling us it was super ridiculous. To make things better/worse, lucha libre-themed movies with the likes of El Santo, Blue Demon and others were so bad they were awesome. As you can see, the undecidable of lucha libre haunted me for years, and now that I am living in the USA I have adopted some folk/kitsch elements of Mexican pop culture that remind me of home in extreme ways. Of course, lucha libre is one of those elements, and my office has masks of luchadores and other lucha toys.
Anyway, the other day I went to check my mailbox here in the office and the following item was there:
No note. No sender. No information. Just the embroidered luchador, who looks like Blue Demon or something like that. We don't know who is behind this... well... thank you?

Very cool. Enjoy it, and enjoy the fact that someone knows you well.

Wow! A luchador, that's way, way better than flowers. Sounds like you have a very interesting secret admirer.
By the way, I stumbled upon your blog a few days ago while I was searching for more Mérida information (I'm kinda obsessed that way!), and I ended up reading all the way back to the beginning. Good stuff.
