I know this doesn't make any sense, but then again what does. For many years, probably since I can remember, I have listed "red" as my favorite color. Why? I don't know... there's really no explanation. When you are a kid, people ask you about your favorite color a lot, and when you are older people don't give a rat's ass about your favorite color. So for a long period I even forgot about the favorite color, and whenever it was mentioned in conversation, I would immediately say "red" and continued more relevant discussion on other topics. Well, it's time to set the record straight: red is not really my favorite color. I don't think it has ever been. I think when I was a kid I wanted to like red and probably I wanted my favorite color to be very primary. Alas, it has never been a favorite. Sure, I own a couple of red t-shirts, in the early 90's I had a red Tommy long-sleeve shirt that I totally loved, and when I was in Texas I had a solid red tie that made me very happy, but that's about it. Now... if we go back to the color of the Russ Rutherford monkeys, probably we will find a more accurate favorite color o'mine. It is brown, people. My apartment is full of brown towels, linens, and furniture. I have several brown shirts, pants, shoes, etc... Oh shit, I just remembered my bicycle is red... ha ha ha, but brown still dominates my life.
So here's the resolution,
Whereas red has been identified as my favorite color in an inaccurate way,
whereas brown seems to dominate my life
whereas red is still cool, but not as cool as brown
whereas this blog posting is totally lame
therefore, be it resolved that my official favorite color is brown, and we can move on to more interesting topics.

That whole favorite colour thing is just a weird part of growing up, isn't it? I'm not sure if I even have a favorite colour as I really consider colour a contextual element in my life. Generally, I prefer warm colours; I am not a big fan of red. I tend to go for secondary and tertiary colours versus anything in primary range. I would never dress in pastels yet, in my decorating choices, many of my walls are tints.
My latest colour problem lies in my new house in Atlanta. Design-wise, my new house suffers from the problem of not fitting any real architectural style. On the outside, it's a bit Craftsman, maybe. On the inside...well, my new house and the Alhambra have a lot in common: arches. I really don't know what's with the arches but, back to the colour problem...I have a 2-storey foyer and I wanna paint it. It's contractor beige right now and it's hideous. Maybe yellow...not pastel...you wouldn't believe how much of my thought processes are consumed with this.
Oh, and I love a good brown....it's a complex and sophisticated colour choice.

Well in my line of work color can be quite a subject. It all can depend on what kind of building you are designing. The color experience in a restaurant is totally diferent to a hospital for example. Also is important to consider what kind of color is going to be used depending on the kind of weather you have where you live ( cold weather demand warm colors and in hot weather cold colors are more suitable, and the explanation is simple, the absortion of the heat, warm colors absorve more heat and cold colors reflect heat) . Any way here you can read something interesting about color. http://psychology.about.com/od/sensationandperception/a/colorpsych.htm

The 'favorite color' thing is an interesting one. I must have told Owen that mine is blue; now he gives me blue M&Ms whenever he finds them. Could be worse.

Brown and Gray are my two favorite colors because of their amazing life expectancy: Spotting dirt is hardest to do on them.
